Singapore Slings

last stop in Asia :(

sunny 30 °C

Our last stop in Asia was Singapore, as we only had 2 nights there before we flew to Australia there isn’t loads to tell you about in this blog entry so it will be a nice short one!

We arrived after a night flight from Bali and decided to soldier through our tiredness and avoid napping and go exploring! We pretty much walked nonstop for the 2 ½ days we were in Singapore so our legs were very achey at the end of each day!

On day one we hit up the SIngapore Art Museum and went to an exhibition by a Korean artist called Hyung Koo Kang his focus is on portrait work and he does these huge canvasses of faces upclose and draws every last line and wrinkle on the face. The display was really cool, he also did portraits of a few dead celebrities such as Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe, aging them so that they looked how he imagined they would if they were still alive today!!

After that we wandered about the colonial district, stopping at the super posh hotel- Raffles along the way. There we headed into the Long Bar to try their Singapore Sling cocktails as this is where they were invented. On all the tables in the bar they have a huge box of monkey nuts for customers to munch on and then you chuck the shells all over the floor!! Random! The slings were delish although Max didn’t think they had much booze in them for the 13 pounds we paid for each one!!

We did some shopping on Orchard Road- there was every brand you can imagine and loads from home so we stocked up on a few things we needed and I did a lot of window shopping! I think Max was regretting agreeing to shop with me when I dragged him around every Aldo in Singapore to try and find my size in the shoes I wanted, luckily for me and unluckily for Max there were about a zillion Aldos so I managed to get my size!
